Almond Danish Swirls
Filling
Ingredients
- 4 oz. Cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup Confectioners Sugar
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 4 oz. slivered almonds, finely chopped
Directions
- In a small bowl, beat the cream cheese, almond extract, and sugar until fluffy.
- Fold half of the chopped almonds into the cream cheese mixture.
Assembly & Baking
Ingredients
- 2 (8 oz) cans refrigerated crescent rolls
- 1 egg white
- 1 teaspoon water
Directions
- Separate one can of dough and form it into 4 rectangles, firmly pressing the perforations to seal.
- Roll each into a 7x4" rectangle and spread with about 2 tablespoons of the cream cheese mixture, leaving a 1/4 inch edge.
- Roll into a tight roll.
- Place the rolls on a plate, wrap with plastic wrap, and chill until firm (about 30 minutes).
- Repeat the process with the second can of dough.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Cut each chilled roll into 4 slices and place them on an ungreased baking sheet.
- In a small bowl, combine the egg white with 1 teaspoon of water.
- Brush this mixture over the swirls and sprinkle with the remaining almonds.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes.
Glaze
Ingredients
- 2/3 Cup Confectioners Sugar
- 4 teaspoon milk
- 1/2 teaspoon Almond extract
Directions
- Whisk together all glaze ingredients until smooth.
- Drizzle over the baked swirls.
Notes
- The card notes "fun chops" for the almonds, which is interpreted as "finely chopped."
