Asparagus Casserole
Ingredients
- 2 Large Cans Asparagus Spears & tips
- 1 Small Can English Peas
- 1 Small jar Chopped Pimento
- 1 Large Pkg Cream Cheese
- 1 Lg box White Worcestershire Sauce
- Tabasco
- garlic salt
- Pepper
- 3/4 Cup Grated Sharp Cheese
- 6 Tbsp Butter
- 2 Tbsp Flour
- 2 Cups liquid (reserved from asparagus/peas, supplemented with Milk if necessary)
Directions
- Drain Asparagus and Peas. Reserve the liquid. You will need 2 Cups of liquid for the sauce; add Milk to the reserved liquid to make a total of 2 Cups.
- Melt 6 Tbsp Butter in a saucepan.
- Blend in 2 Tbsp Flour.
- Add the 2 Cups of prepared liquid all at once.
- Stir and boil until thick and smooth.
- Stir in 1 Large Pkg Cream Cheese until melted.
- Season to taste with the 1 Lg box White Worcestershire Sauce, Tabasco, garlic salt, and Pepper.
- In a casserole dish, arrange a layer of the sauce.
- Follow with a layer of the drained Asparagus Spears & tips, English Peas, and Chopped Pimento.
- Top with the remaining sauce (this makes two layers of sauce in total).
- Sprinkle 3/4 Cup Grated Sharp Cheese sparingly on top.
- Heat until cheese is melted.
- Add Water Chestnuts if desired.
