Fudgy Brownies

Ingredients
- margarine
- unsweetened chocolate
- skim milk
- apricot preserves with NutraSweet
- egg yolk
- vanilla
- all-purpose flour
- Equal sweetener
- baking powder
- salt
- egg whites
- cream of tartar
- walnuts (optional)
Directions
- Heat margarine, chocolate, milk, and apricot preserves in a saucepan until chocolate is almost melted. Remove from heat and whisk until fully melted. Add egg yolk and vanilla, then mix in combined dry ingredients.
- Beat egg whites and cream of tartar to stiff peaks. Fold the chocolate mixture into the egg whites and add walnuts if desired. Pour the batter into a greased 8-inch square baking pan.
- Bake at 350°F for 18-20 minutes until firm. Cool on a wire rack and serve warm or at room temperature.
