  1. In a saucepan, mix sugar and corn starch together.
  2. Add milk and slightly beaten eggs.
  3. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture becomes thick.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the almond extract.

  1. Slice the angel food cake.
  2. Lay a layer of cake slices in a pan.
  3. Pour half of the prepared custard over the cake.
  4. Place another layer of cake on top, followed by the remaining custard.
  5. Top with coconut and cherries.
