Mrs Little's Mothers Butter Milk Cake

Ingredients
- 1 C. butter or (2 sticks)
- 3 C. Sugar
- 5 eggs
- 1 C. Butter Milk
- 3 C. flour (plain)
- 1/4 tl Soda
- 1 T. Hot Water
Directions
- Cream butter and sugar together until very well combined.
- Separate the eggs.
- Add the egg yolks one at a time to the creamed mixture.
- Dissolve the soda in the hot water.
- Combine the soda mixture with the flour.
- Add 1/2 cup of the buttermilk to the batter, then add the flour mixture, and finally the last 1/2 cup of buttermilk.
- Beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
- Gently fold the stiff egg whites into the cake batter.
- Bake at 350°F for 1 hour.
