  1. Combine brown sugar, shortening (butter/Crisco), water, and salt in a saucepan.
  2. Bring to a boil over moderate heat, stirring constantly.
  3. Boil vigorously for one minute.
  4. Remove from heat.
  5. Add the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, almond extract, and marshmallow cream.
  6. Beat until smooth and has reached a spreading consistency.
