Sandwich Spread

  1. Grind the bell peppers, green tomatoes, and onions.
  2. Let the ground mixture stand in 1/2 cup of salt.
  3. Drain the mixture well.
  4. Cook the drained vegetables until tender.
  5. In a separate pot, bring the vinegar and sugar to a boil.
  6. Make a paste with the flour, turmeric, mustard, and black pepper with a little water.
  7. Whisk the paste into the vinegar and sugar mixture.
  8. Pour the sauce over the cooked vegetables.
  9. Cook until thickened.
  10. Let the mixture cool completely.
  11. Add 1 qt of mayonnaise.
  12. Mix well, put in jars, and seal.
