Snickerdoodles

Part 1
Ingredients
- 1 cup soft shortening
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 2 eggs

- 2 3/4 cups sifted flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt

- Chill dough: Roll into balls the size of small walnuts. Roll in a mixture of 2 teaspoons sugar and 2 teaspoons cinnamon. Place about 2" apart on an ungreased baking sheet.
- Bake until lightly browned—but soft. They will puff up at first and then flatten out.
- Temp: 400°F
- Time: 8 to 10 minutes
- Yield: About 5 dozen cookies
Notes
- I always mix the cinnamon and sugar to our taste. It takes more than the recipe calls for.
